- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Combine flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder in a bowl.
- Make a well in the center and pour in buttermilk and orange juice; mix well.
- Add egg, raisins, and orange peel; beat until smooth, noting the dough will be sticky.
- Knead lightly on a well-greased 9-inch round cake pan.
- Cut an X across the top of the loaf.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Serve warm.
