Ingredients

  • 6 qt. popped corn
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. dark corn syrup
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. soda

Instructions

  1. Put popped corn in a buttered bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat the butter, dark corn syrup, and brown sugar and bring to a boil.
  3. Add cream of tartar and reduce heat.
  4. Boil for 5 minutes (no more). Remove from heat and add soda.
  5. Pour over the popcorn and stir well.
  6. Spread caramel corn on a cookie sheet and bake in an oven at 225° to 250°F for 1 hour.
  7. Stir every 15 minutes.
  8. Let cool and store in a sealed container.
