- Place yeast in warm water; set aside.
- Sift together the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients.
- Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add buttermilk and sweet milk; stir until well blended.
- Pour the dough onto floured wax paper.
- Roll out the dough; cut out biscuits with a cutter.
- Place thin biscuits in a greased pan.
- Place wax paper between layers of biscuits.
- Cover and place in refrigerator overnight.
- Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes until golden.
- Makes about 24 biscuits.
