Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breast halves
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 lb. sweet Italian sausage
  • 16 oz. can whole tomatoes
  • 2 cans chicken broth
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • 10 mussels
  • 2 c. uncooked rice
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 lb. medium shrimp
  • 1 green bell pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken breast into 1/2 inch strips.
  2. Combine paprika, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Add chicken to the seasonings and stir until completely coated.
  4. Cut Italian sausage into 1/4 inch pieces and remove casings.
  5. Add water to chicken broth to make 3 3/4 cups and bring to a boil in a 12-inch skillet.
  6. Stir in rice, onion, garlic, turmeric, chicken, sausage, and tomatoes.
  7. Cover tightly and simmer for 20 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat.
  9. Stir in shrimp and green pepper.
  10. Place mussels on top, cover, and let stand until all liquid is absorbed, about 5 minutes.
