Instructions
- Boil together the sugar, shortening, water, raisins, apples, nut meats, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and salt for 3 minutes; let cool.
- Add the flour and soda to the cooled mixture; mix well with the boiled mixture.
- Spread the batter on a cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Ice, if desired.
