Sweet and fruity Pan Apple Cookies combine the flavors of apples, raisins, and warm spices in a soft, chewy cookie perfect for cozy gatherings and dessert tables.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. apples
  • 1 c. nut meats
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. soda

Instructions

  1. Boil together the sugar, shortening, water, raisins, apples, nut meats, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and salt for 3 minutes; let cool.
  2. Add the flour and soda to the cooled mixture; mix well with the boiled mixture.
  3. Spread the batter on a cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
  5. Ice, if desired.
