Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup walnut oil or cooking oil
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, grated Parmesan cheese, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, stir together the beaten egg, milk, and walnut or cooking oil.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture, stirring until just combined.
  4. Stir in 3/4 cup of chopped walnuts.
  5. Turn the batter into a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining walnuts over the top of the batter.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  9. Remove the loaf from the pan and cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. Wrap and store overnight before slicing.
