Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 lb. hot Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. season salt
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 large can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 (12 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1/8 cup oregano
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Brown the hamburger and Italian sausage in a large skillet or pot. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the browned meats; cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in season salt, crushed red pepper, oregano, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Add tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and tomato sauce to the meat mixture. Mix well.
  5. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let cook uncovered for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste and add water if necessary to reach desired consistency.
  7. Serve hot over cooked pasta.
