Pasties (A Meat Pie)
Hearty meat pies with tender beef, potatoes, and onions encased in flaky crust, perfect for satisfying a comforting meal for family or gatherings.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Lay one pie crust flat on a baking sheet.
- Place 3/4 cup diced potatoes in the center of the crust.
- Layer about 1/2 cup diced meat on top of the potatoes.
- Add 1/4 cup diced onions over the meat.
- Sprinkle with about 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper, adjusting to taste.
- Bring the edges of the dough up over the filling to form a semi-circle or circle.
- Moisten the edges with water and crimp to seal tightly.
- Poke 2 holes on each side of the crimp to vent steam.
- Carefully pour 1/4 cup water into one of the vent holes.
- Place the pasty on a cookie sheet and bake for 50 minutes at 350°F.
