  2. Slice through the rolls and return the bottom half to the roll pan.
  3. Layer ham and cheese slices on the bottom portion of the rolls and cover with the top portion of rolls.
  4. Mix melted oleo, poppy seed, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and onion flakes and pour evenly over the rolls.
  5. Let sit until the mixture is absorbed (15 to 20 minutes).
  6. Cover with aluminum foil.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes or until cheese melts.
  8. Slice through at normal roll separations (bake covered).

Tips & Substitutions

For a twist, try using turkey or roast beef instead of ham, and pepper jack cheese for a spicy kick. If you're short on time, pre-sliced deli meats and cheese will save you prep work. Ensure to let the rolls absorb the sauce mixture well for maximum flavor, and consider adding fresh herbs for an aromatic touch.

Serving Suggestions

These ham rolls make a great appetizer for parties or game day. Serve them alongside a fresh Pea Salad With Bacon for a balanced meal. You can also pair them with a side of Corn In Sour Cream for a creamy contrast. They are perfect for casual gatherings or as a tasty snack.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, wrap the rolls in foil and warm them in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10-15 minutes until heated through. This helps retain moisture and keeps the cheese melty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I prepare the ham rolls ahead of time?

Yes, you can assemble the rolls and pour the sauce over them a few hours in advance. Cover and refrigerate until you are ready to bake. Just let them sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes before baking to ensure even cooking.

What type of rolls work best for this recipe?

Oblong heat and serve dinner rolls are ideal because they hold their shape well and are easy to slice. However, any soft rolls can work, such as slider buns or even homemade bread rolls, as long as they can be filled and baked without falling apart.

Can I freeze leftovers?

Yes, these ham rolls freeze well. Wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and then in aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn. To reheat, thaw in the refrigerator overnight and bake in the oven at 350°F until heated through, about 15-20 minutes.
