Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soft butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup chopped fresh pears
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar until smooth.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Stir in flour, cinnamon, and buttermilk until just combined.
  4. Fold in chopped pears, pecans, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before removing from the pan and serving.
