- Grind the pecans.
- Combine chopped pecans, flour, and baking powder in a mixing bowl.
- In a separate bowl, beat margarine and shortening for 30 seconds.
- Add sugar and beat until fluffy.
- Add egg, sour cream, and vanilla; beat well.
- Add dry ingredients and beat until well combined.
- Divide dough in half; cover and chill for at least 3 hours.
- Working with half the dough at a time on a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness.
- Cut with a cutter or shape into 1-inch balls.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake in a 375°F oven for 9 to 10 minutes for cutouts or 10 minutes for shaped cookies.
