Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup dairy sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Grind the pecans.
  2. Combine chopped pecans, flour, and baking powder in a mixing bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat margarine and shortening for 30 seconds.
  4. Add sugar and beat until fluffy.
  5. Add egg, sour cream, and vanilla; beat well.
  6. Add dry ingredients and beat until well combined.
  7. Divide dough in half; cover and chill for at least 3 hours.
  8. Working with half the dough at a time on a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness.
  9. Cut with a cutter or shape into 1-inch balls.
  10. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  11. Bake in a 375°F oven for 9 to 10 minutes for cutouts or 10 minutes for shaped cookies.
