Pecan Turtle Bars

- Combine flour, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 cup softened butter in a large bowl. Beat for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Pat the mixture evenly onto the bottom of an ungreased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
- Sprinkle pecan halves over the crumb mixture.
- Combine 2/3 cup butter and remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar in a saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until bubbly.
- Pour the caramel mixture into the pan, spreading evenly over the crust.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18 to 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate pieces.
- Let stand for 2 to 3 minutes until the chocolate melts.
- Use a knife to swirl the melted chocolate into the topping.
