Ingredients

  • 1 qt. vinegar
  • 3 qt. water
  • 2 to 3 garlic pieces
  • 2 to 3 small hot peppers
  • 1 cup canning salt
  • 1 teaspoon alum
  • dill
  • 10 lb. cucumbers

Instructions

  1. Bring vinegar, water, canning salt, and alum to a boil.
  2. Keep the mixture hot after boiling.
  3. Pack cucumbers tightly in jars with garlic, dill, and hot peppers.
  4. Pour hot mixture over the packed cucumbers.
  5. Seal the jars and process in a water bath for 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. Allow the jars to cool before storing.
