Ingredients

  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups sifted cake flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Let all ingredients come to room temperature.
  2. Beat cream cheese, butter, sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl with a mixer until thoroughly blended.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition.
  4. Gradually add sifted cake flour and baking powder; mix on low speed until blended.
  5. Pour into a greased and floured 9x5 inch baking pan or 10-inch tube pan.
  6. Bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour and twenty minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool for five minutes before removing from the pan.
  8. Sprinkle with powdered sugar just before serving if desired.
