Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 sticks butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 2 tablespoons lemon extract

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the soda in 1 tablespoon of water.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
  4. Blend in the flour, dissolved soda, and buttermilk using the low speed of an electric mixer.
  5. Add lemon extract and mix well.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and floured Bundt pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 1/2 hours.
  8. Check the cake after one hour and continue baking until done.
