Ingredients

  • 1 small head cabbage
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1/2 cup grated sharp cheese
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup uncooked rice
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Chop the cabbage into medium pieces and spread it on the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet; stir in chopped onion, uncooked rice, salt, and pepper, then pour the mixture over the cabbage.
  3. In a small saucepan, heat the tomato soup and water until boiling, then pour over all the ingredients in the baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle grated sharp cheese over the top and cover the dish with foil.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 1/2 hours or until the cabbage is soft.
