Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon evaporated milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups broken pecan pieces
  • 1 (9-inch) pie shell

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and gradually add dark brown sugar.
  2. Add corn syrup and evaporated milk, mixing well.
  3. In a separate bowl, add salt to eggs and beat until light.
  4. Stir the egg mixture into the first mixture.
  5. Add vanilla extract and broken pecan pieces.
  6. Pour the filling into the unbaked pie shell.
  7. Bake in preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes.
  8. Lower oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
