Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp butter
  • 1 1/2 lb lean pork, ground
  • 1/2 lb coarsely ground veal
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp dried marjoram

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 2-pound loaf tin with butter.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Put all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir to blend thoroughly.
  5. Spoon the mixture into the prepared loaf tin.
  6. Place the tin in a large baking dish, half filled with cold water.
  7. Bake in the oven for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours, or until the meat loaf has shrunk away from the sides of the tin.
  8. Remove from oven and leave the meat loaf in the tin for 10 to 15 minutes to cool slightly.
  9. Pour off any excess fat before serving.
