Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground pork or sausage
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 large potato

Instructions

  1. Cook ground pork or sausage with chopped onion, salt, pepper, 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves, and 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon; add 1 cup water.
  2. Stir continuously until mixture boils.
  3. Simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
  4. Remove from heat and drain excess fat.
  5. Add remaining ground cloves and cinnamon to the meat mixture.
  6. Mash the potato without adding milk or butter.
  7. Combine the mashed potato with the cooked meat mixture and mix well.
  8. Place the mixture into a pie shell and cover with a pastry top or crust.
  9. Bake at 425°F until the crust is golden brown.
