Creamy, cheesy potato casserole with onions, perfect for family dinners or potlucks, offering comforting flavors and a satisfying texture.

Ingredients

  • 6 large potatoes
  • 1 large onion
  • 6 slices American cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • salt

Instructions

  1. In a deep casserole dish, melt 1/2 stick of margarine or butter.
  2. Layer sliced potatoes, chopped onion, and slices of American cheese in the dish, ending with a layer of cheese on top.
  3. Between each layer, sprinkle salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Pour the can of cream of mushroom soup over the layered ingredients.
  5. Place 6 slices of American cheese on top.
  6. Cover and bake until the potatoes are tender and bubbly, approximately 45 minutes.
