Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup light cream
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • dash of cayenne red pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded American cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter an 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.
  3. Cut each slice of bread diagonally into 4 triangles.
  4. Line the bottom and sides of the baking dish with bread triangles.
  5. Arrange 8 triangles upright against the sides of the dish for a crown effect.
  6. Place the remaining bread triangles on the bottom of the pan.
  7. Beat eggs slightly; add light cream, melted margarine, salt, dry mustard, paprika, cayenne red pepper, and shredded American cheese; mix well.
  8. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  9. Bake uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes.
