Ingredients

  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted shortening
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder

Instructions

  1. Combine beaten egg, sugar, milk, and melted shortening in a bowl.
  2. Add flour, baking powder, and salt; mix well.
  3. Pour batter into a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
  4. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, melted butter, and chopped nuts.
  5. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the batter.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 to 25 minutes until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
