- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, heat butter until just melted; remove from heat.
- Add cocoa powder and whisk until blended. Stir in sugar.
- Add eggs one at a time, stirring quickly because batter will be warm.
- Gently stir in flour and chopped pecans.
- Add vanilla extract last.
- Spray an 8 x 8-inch square pan with cooking spray or oil. Pour batter into pan.
- Sprinkle a few additional pecans on top of the batter.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the center is just cooked.
