Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 slices white bread
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 (12 oz) jar mushroom gravy
  • 1/4 cup Burgundy wine or water
  • 1 1/2 cups Minute rice

Instructions

  1. Combine beef, onion, bread, 1/2 cup of the water, 1/2 teaspoon of the salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a large bowl; mix well.
  2. Shape into 4 loaves.
  3. Cook loaves in hot oil in a large skillet until browned.
  4. Stir in mushroom gravy and wine.
  5. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until cooked through.
  6. Meanwhile, bring remaining water and salt to a boil.
  7. Stir in rice and parsley; cover and remove from heat.
  8. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  9. Fluff rice with a fork.
  10. Serve rice with beef loaves and gravy.
