Ingredients

  • 1/2 to 3/4 lb. ground beef
  • 2 (1 lb.) jars spaghetti sauce
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 lb. Ricotta or dry curd cottage cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 c. grated Romano or Parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 lb. Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 lb. lasagna noodles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef until browned; drain excess fat.
  3. Add spaghetti sauce and water to the beef; simmer for a few minutes.
  4. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and grated Romano or Parmesan cheese.
  5. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain.
  6. Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish.
  7. Layer cooked noodles over the sauce.
  8. Spread a layer of the cheese mixture over the noodles.
  9. Add slices or grated mozzarella cheese over the cheese layer.
  10. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a cheese layer on top.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
  12. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
