Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 can pumpkin or 2 cups fruit of choice
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and oil together until well combined.
  2. Add beaten eggs and pumpkin or fruit of choice to the creamed mixture.
  3. Sift together the dry ingredients: flour, soda, salt, baking powder, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, and cloves.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients along with water to the creamed mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Grease and flour loaf pans to prevent sticking.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pans.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 1/2 hours, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the bread stand for 10 minutes before removing from pans.
