Ingredients

  • 1 pint tomatoes
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 4 ounces uncooked macaroni
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 tablespoon shortening

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and chopped onion in shortening in an electric skillet. Drain off excess grease.
  2. Stir in hot water, diced tomatoes, catsup, salt, sugar, and pepper.
  3. Add the uncooked macaroni to the skillet.
  4. Mix everything well to combine.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the macaroni is tender.
