Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 quarts peeled, sliced apples
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Butter a shallow 9 x 12-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread peeled, sliced apples and raisins evenly in the prepared pan.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Cut in 3/4 cup softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly over the apples and raisins.
  6. Drizzle lemon juice and vanilla over the fruit before topping.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
