Ingredients

  • 2 cups seedless raisins
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange rind

Instructions

  1. Rinse, drain, and dry the raisins.
  2. Chop or grind the walnuts.
  3. Beat the eggs until foamy and gradually beat in the sugar and vanilla.
  4. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg into the egg mixture.
  5. Blend in the raisins, chopped walnuts, and grated orange rind.
  6. Spread the mixture in a well-greased and floured 8-inch square pan.
  7. Bake at 325°F for 30 to 35 minutes until lightly crusted on top.
  8. Cut into squares while warm.
  9. Cool and remove from the pan.
