Ingredients

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Boil raisins in water until liquid is reduced to 1 cup.
  2. Add butter to the raisin mixture and stir until melted.
  3. Mix flour, sugar, salt, soda, cloves, cinnamon, and allspice together in a bowl.
  4. Blend in the egg and the liquid raisin mixture until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  6. Bake at 400°F for 15 to 20 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Frost while warm with a mixture of cream cheese and powdered sugar.
