Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white cornmeal
  • 1 egg
  • 1 to 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons melted shortening
