Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups crisp rice cereal

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease cookie sheets.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter or margarine, shortening, sugar, and brown sugar.
  4. Add eggs and beat until well blended.
  5. Lightly spoon the flour into a measuring cup and level off.
  6. Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and vanilla to the creamed mixture. Stir until well blended.
  7. Stir in the crisp rice cereal.
  8. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto the prepared cookie sheets.
  9. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8 to 12 minutes.
  10. Let the cookies stand for 1 minute before removing from the pan.
