- In a large bowl, combine dry cake mix and oats; stir in melted butter until the mixture is crumbly.
- Place half of the crumb mixture in a pan and spread evenly.
- Combine preserves and water.

- Cover with the remaining crumb mixture; pat firmly to make the top even.
- Bake in a preheated 375° oven for 18 to 23 minutes; the top should be very light brown.
- Cool completely, then cut into bars.
