Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sweet milk
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 quart black raspberries

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, eggs, and melted butter thoroughly.
  2. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Alternate combining the dry ingredients with sweet milk into the wet mixture.
  4. Spread a thin layer of batter in prepared pans.
  5. Add a layer of black raspberries (about 1 pint) on top of the batter.
  6. Top with the remaining batter, then layer with the rest of the berries.
  7. Bake in greased and floured pans measuring approximately 11 3/4 x 7 1/2 x 1 inches or in two medium pans.
  8. Bake at 325° to 375° for 30 to 40 minutes until set and golden.
