  • 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
  • 10 oz. sour cream

  5. Cook and stir until the mixture thickens; then cool to room temperature.
  6. In another small saucepan, sprinkle gelatin over water and let stand for 1 minute.

  17. Garnish as desired and refrigerate leftovers.

Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using sweetened shredded coconut instead of flaked coconut. If you prefer a lighter dessert, substitute the whipping cream with Greek yogurt for a tangy twist. Be sure to let the raspberry mixture cool completely before adding it to the gelatin layer to prevent it from melting. You can also use fresh raspberries if they're in season.

Serving Suggestions

This Raspberry Swirl Dessert is delightful on its own, but it also pairs beautifully with a drizzle of chocolate sauce or a dollop of whipped cream. Serve with a side of fresh berries for added freshness. For a special touch, consider serving it alongside Egg With A Hat for a charming dessert spread.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To keep the dessert from getting soggy, avoid stacking layers directly on top of each other. If needed, you can freeze individual slices for up to a month; just thaw them in the refrigerator before serving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh raspberries instead of frozen?

Yes, fresh raspberries can be used instead of frozen. Just ensure they are ripe and sweet, as they will be blended into a purée. If they are not sweet enough, you may need to adjust the sweetness of the dessert accordingly.

What can I substitute for margarine?

Butter is an excellent substitute for margarine, providing a richer flavor. If you're looking for a dairy-free option, consider using coconut oil or a plant-based butter alternative, but keep in mind that it may slightly alter the taste.

How do I know when the dessert is set?

The dessert is set when it is firm to the touch and holds its shape when sliced. After chilling for at least 6 hours, gently press the center with a spoon; it should feel solid rather than jiggly. If in doubt, let it chill a bit longer.
