Ingredients

  • 3 c. red onion, sliced thin
  • 4 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. red wine vinegar
  • 1 pkg. sure-jell
  • 1 1/2 c. apple juice
  • 1 2/3 tsp. sage
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. butter

Instructions

  1. Mix red onions, red wine vinegar, apple juice, sage, and pepper in a large saucepan.
  2. Stir in sure-jell and add butter; bring to a full, rolling boil over high heat.
  3. Add sugar and continue boiling for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Pour hot jam into sterilized jars and seal. Turn jars upside down for 5 minutes to ensure a proper seal.
