Ingredients

  • 2 heads dill
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp alum
  • 1 large onion, cut into rings
  • 1 gal cucumbers, cut into spears
  • 3 c water
  • 1 c vinegar
  • 1/4 c salt

Instructions

  1. In a 4-quart ice cream bucket, place cucumbers, dill, alum, onion rings, and garlic.
  2. Boil water, vinegar, and salt.
  3. Pour hot solution over the ingredients in the bucket.
  4. Put the lid on and allow to cool.
  5. Refrigerate and let sit for at least 2 days before eating.
