Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon double-acting baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine cocoa, sifted flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon in a sifter.
  2. Cream together sugar, margarine, and eggs until well blended.
  3. Add vanilla to the creamed mixture.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk to the creamed mixture, mixing well after each addition, until the batter is smooth.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into two 9-inch greased layer cake pans.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 25 minutes.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool, then frost with Fluffy Cocoa Frosting.
