Ingredients

  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup melted margarine or butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour.
  2. Measure and sift with baking soda, then combine with brown sugar.
  3. Beat eggs well.
  4. Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the egg mixture.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg and nut mixture, mixing well.
  6. Add vanilla and melted margarine or butter, mixing until combined.
  7. Spread the batter in a well-greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  9. Cut into 1 1/2 x 1-inch strips to serve.
