- Preheat oven to 400°.
- In large bowl, cream butter or oleo and sugar with electric mixer.
- Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Add baking powder and flour (one cup at a time).
- Mix after each addition. The dough will be very stiff.
- Blend last flour by hand.
- Do not chill.
- Divide into 2 balls.
- On floured surface, roll each ball in circle approximately 12 inches in diameter and 1/8-inch thick. Use cutters as a guide.
- Dough should only be slightly thinner than cutter.
- Dip cutters in flour before each use.
- Bake on ungreased cookie sheet on middle rack of oven for 6 to 10 minutes or slightly browned.
