Tips & Substitutions

For a vegetarian version, replace ground beef with lentils or black beans. You can also use corn tortillas for a gluten-free alternative. Experiment with additional toppings like jalapeños or avocado. To enhance flavor, consider adding cumin or chili powder to the beef. Serve with a side of guacamole for a fresh twist.

Serving Suggestions

This taco lasagna pairs beautifully with a side of Mexican Bahita'S for a complete meal. Add a fresh green salad or some tortilla chips for extra crunch. Consider serving with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro on top for added flavor.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through, about 15 minutes. You can also microwave single servings for quicker reheating, but the oven will keep the texture crispier.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this taco lasagna ahead of time?

Yes, you can assemble the lasagna a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator until you're ready to bake. Just cover it tightly with foil to prevent it from drying out. Bake it straight from the fridge, but you may need to add a few extra minutes to the cooking time.

What can I use instead of refried beans?

If you don't have refried beans, you can use black beans or pinto beans that have been mashed. For a creamier texture, consider using hummus or a bean dip. Just ensure the consistency is spreadable to maintain the lasagna layers.

Is it possible to freeze taco lasagna?

Yes, you can freeze taco lasagna before baking it. Wrap it tightly in foil or plastic wrap and store it in the freezer for up to 3 months. When ready to bake, thaw in the refrigerator overnight and then bake as directed.
