Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. sliced bacon
  • 1/2 lb. chicken livers, halved
  • 1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained and halved
  • 4 scallions, cut into 1-inch lengths
  • 1/3 cup imported soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon curry powder

Instructions

  1. Cut each strip of bacon in half crosswise.
  2. Wrap each half around one piece of chicken liver, water chestnut, and scallion.
  3. Place the wrapped items in a small shallow pan.
  4. Combine soy sauce, ground ginger, ground turmeric, garlic powder, and curry powder to make the marinade.
  5. Pour the marinade over the wrapped ingredients in the pan.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  7. Arrange the marinated bundles on a rack in a broiler pan.
  8. Place under a preheated hot broiler for 7 to 10 minutes, turning occasionally until browned.
