Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier chowder, use half-and-half instead of milk. If you prefer a heartier texture, consider adding diced potatoes or carrots. Fresh salmon can be substituted for canned, but adjust the cooking time accordingly. Enhance the flavor by incorporating a splash of white wine or using fresh herbs like parsley or thyme in addition to dill weed.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the salmon chowder with crusty bread or crackers for dipping. A fresh green salad or steamed vegetables make great side dishes. For a complete meal, pair it with a light white wine or a refreshing iced tea. This chowder also pairs beautifully with Tuna Salad - Disney World for a delightful seafood-themed dinner.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover chowder in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, gently warm it on the stove over low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. If the chowder thickens too much, add a splash of milk to reach your desired consistency.

Yes, you can use fresh salmon instead of canned. Just make sure to cook the fresh salmon thoroughly before flaking it into the chowder. Adjust the cooking time to ensure it's fully cooked and tender.

What can I substitute for dill weed?
