Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 2/3 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup Crisco
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Measure and place in a mixing bowl the flour, salt, baking powder, sugar, Crisco, and 3/4 cup of milk.
  2. Blend for 3 minutes; then add eggs, 1/2 cup of milk, and vanilla extract.
  3. Blend for an additional 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into layer cake pans.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
