Soft, fluffy rolls with a hint of sweetness and buttery flavor, perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and suitable for a variety of occasions and meal types.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 c. cooking oil
  • 2/3 c. buttermilk
  • 1/3 c. warm water
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast

Instructions

  1. Put dry ingredients into a bowl.
  2. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  3. Mix together oil, buttermilk, and yeast mixture.
  4. Stir liquid into dry ingredients, mixing well.
  5. Let rise until double in bulk (about 30 minutes).
  6. Make into favorite rolls by rolling out and cutting as for biscuits.
  7. Dip into melted margarine and fold over.
  8. Let rise in pan for 10 or 15 minutes.
  9. Bake at 400° until brown.
