Instructions
- Mix 1 cup sugar, butter and orange rind in bowl.
- Beat 5 minutes.
- Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt and add alternately with orange juice and water.
- Beat egg whites until frothy and add 1/2 cup sugar.
- Beat until stiff.
- Fold in cake batter.
- Bake in layers for 30 to 35 minutes at 350°.
