Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh pork sausage
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/3 cup orange juice

Instructions

  1. Lightly brown the sausage in a frying pan, breaking it into pieces.
  2. Remove the sausage to absorbent paper and reserve 1/4 cup of the drippings.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the beaten egg, orange juice, and the reserved sausage drippings to the dry ingredients.
  5. Mix until well combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto a greased baking sheet.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until golden brown, about 12-15 minutes.
