Sausage Stuffed Macaroni Shells

Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. smoked sausage
  • 18 large macaroni shells
  • 1 lb. Ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 c. chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves
  • 1 (15 oz.) jar spaghetti sauce (with mushrooms and onions)
  • 1/3 c. water

Instructions

  1. Prepare shells according to package.
  2. Preheat oven to 375°. Combine Ricotta and egg. Add Mozzarella, parsley, Parmesan, basil and oregano. Stir in finely chopped sausage.
  3. Combine spaghetti sauce and water in bowl.
  4. Put 3/4 cup sauce in bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  5. Fill shells with sausage-cheese mixture and place in pan.
  6. Pour remaining sauce over top.
  7. Bake 35 minutes or until shells are heated through and cheese is melted.
