- Brown the diced onions in fat if necessary.
- Cut the round steak into cubes and brown in the same pan.
- Mix the dry ingredients (flour, salt, pepper, cloves, thyme) and sprinkle over the meat.
- Dissolve the bouillon cubes in hot water and add to the pan along with vinegar and catsup.
- Stir until well blended, then cover the pan.
- Simmer for 1 1/2 hours until the meat is tender. If using canned meat, reduce simmering time accordingly.
