Ingredients

  • 9 cups bread cubes
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sage
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped celery
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine bread cubes, salt, pepper, and sage in a large bowl.
  2. Saute onion, celery, and butter in a skillet until tender.
  3. Add the sautéed onion, celery, and butter to the bread mixture.
  4. Add 1/2 cup water and mix until the mixture is very moist; add more water if needed.
